Well, not entirely.
When you link GA with Google Search Console, you gain insight into this extremely valuable data.
Here, I’ll explain step by step how to link GA to Google Webmaster Tools.
Step 1: Log in to your Google Webmaster account
Settings > Google Analytics Property

Next, you’ll see the following screen:
Here you can select the appropriate “property.”

Step 2: Log in to your GA account > Acquisition > Search Engine Optimization.
You’ll then see three types of data:

  • Queries
  • Landing Pages
  • Geographical Summary (Locations)

Personally, I think the first two are GOLD. You get insights into which pages score well in Google and which search queries score well.

Goodbye [not provided].

Let's list and use these insights.

  1. Set Google Analytics data to the 6 months or one year.
  2. Set 'rows' at the bottom to 5000
  3. Click on 'export' and then Excel.
  4. Hoppa. An excel file full of valuable data.

Ok, now what can I do with this valuable data?

You now have an excel file with keyword data. But what can you do with this data? Well several things:

  1. You can see which keywords you’re currently ranking highly for.
    • With this data, you can show the rest of your company that you’re ranking highly for certain keywords.
  2. You can attract even more visitors with this data.
    1. Right-click on “average positions” > sort.
    2. View all keywords ranked between positions 10 and 30. It often takes very little effort to rank higher for these keywords; they’re already on the second or third page of Google. Below is an example of a power bank online store for which I handle search engine optimization. These keywords are already ranking reasonably well on Google; with a few extra backlinks or some improved on-page optimization, you can easily secure a spot on the first page.keywords1
  3. As an online marketer you can process this data into a professional report. Ideal for a pitch or meeting!
  4. Ideal basis for an SEO assignment. .

Tip 2: View referrals

If you’re doing a good job promoting your website, it will attract a fair amount of referral traffic. You can find an overview of this traffic under Acquisition > Overview > All traffic. This is where you look for new opportunities. Do you see traffic from websites you don’t recognize? Check it out. A large portion will come from bots, but there will be a relevant website mixed in here and there.

When you find a website where traffic is coming from, it will usually be positive and valuable traffic. Find contact and discuss whether you might be able to get a valuable backlink. You can search within Google in the following way.

site:depotential website "your website name"

Tip 3: Use of annotations

As an online marketer or website/online store owner, you want to be able to demonstrate that your efforts are actually driving change. A handy way to do this is to use “annotations” within GA.

  • New blog post written? Write down
  • Alt tags changed? Write down
  • Backlink created? Write down
  • Google comes with new update? Write down

Are you taking care of all the online marketing? Then your client can simply log into GA and see what happened.
Online marketers can say all kinds of things, but ultimately you prove your work with hard data.
