What exactly is conversion and why is it so important? And what are elements that contribute to better conversion? We tell you all about it in this week's Monkey Blog: "5 tips for better conversion."
What is conversion?
What exactly is conversion? In the field of web builders and online marketers it is always about goals and conversion.
Conversion is the action (or multiple actions) you want your website visitors to perform. We distinguish between micro conversion and macro conversion.
-
Micro conversion
Micro-conversion is a conversion that does not immediately generate revenue but can contribute to it over time. It is essentially the stepping stone to macro-conversion. Examples include signing up for a newsletter, following on social media, filling out a contact form, or creating an account.
-
Macro conversion
Macro conversion is conversion that directly contributes to higher sales. This means a completed order, reservation or, for example, a request for a quotation.
Conversions provide insight into the performance of your website, ecommerce store or campaign. Therefore, it is important that you know how to measure this, how to read the results and decide on possible next steps.
Google Analytics is a handy free tool that allows you to measure conversion. The next steps, formulation and implementation of new goals require some web and marketing skills.
5 tips for better conversion
There are many elements involved in better conversion. Wondering what Monkey Vision would do to help you?
We give you an insight and give you 5 tips!
1. Social proof
Add social proof to your website. What is social proof? Social proof is "evidence" that shows how customers experienced your service or product. With social proof you can think of reviews, but also of numbers and figures.
-
Reviews
Potential customers nowadays often look for reviews before using a service or purchasing a product. If the potential customer reads positive reviews, he is more likely to do business with you.
Monkey Vision has a whopping 196 reviews on Google my business. A boost in confidence but also very good for SEO!
-
Figures
Through some review tools you can let customers give a rating or number of stars. A high number of stars can convince a potential customer of your good service or product. Did your company win any awards or certificates? Place these on your website as well!
-
Numbers
"Already 500,000 satisfied customers!" and "1,000,000 Dutch people went before you!". Do you have impressive numbers of customers or products sold? Post them on your website and convince your visitors!
2. Call to actions
Provide an optimal primary call to action and make sure it is repeated several times in your website. This way you increase the chance that people will convert.
Absolutely do not stuff your website with these calls to actions, but make sure they are at the top and bottom of each page.

3. Logical page structure
Make sure your website has a good page structure. A good page structure follows a number of rules. For example, put the most important information of a page "above the fold".
"Above the fold" is a term you hear more often when it comes to optimizing conversion. By "above the fold," we mean the first visible part of a page. All the information below it, a visitor doesn't see until they scroll. If your initial information is not clear, compelling and informative, the visitor will not scroll and convert either. So here, for example, don't choose a huge header photo with no text. We understand that this may look nice, but you run a big chance that the visitor will not convert.
Our team will work with you to think carefully about the right information above the fold.
Also, don't forget to link your most important pages together for better SEO!
4. Report numbers and standards
By working with numbers and standards you create an urgency around your services or products. Think for example: "Only 2 pieces in stock", "Almost sold out", "Offer runs until 24:00". By doing so, you often put visitors over their doubt, making them more likely to convert.
Also by providing a standard choice, you can remove any doubts people may have. If a visitor finds it difficult to choose between different products, a "most chosen", "standard" or "best" choice can help someone in their choice.
5. Feedback
Previously we discussed the importance of good reviews. To receive these reviews, you have to encourage your visitors to give feedback.
Actively ask people to leave a review through an easy button or form on your website, or, for example, send an email a few days later when a product has been received by the consumer. Notice that it remains difficult to receive reviews? Tie a prize or contest to it!
